Grand Haven Salmon Festival 2020 Update

Due to the current CV-19 restrictions on mass gatherings the Salmon Festival Board, in cooperation with our partners and local health department officials, made the difficult decision to cancel the following Salmon Festival events: Fish Boil, KidZone, Art Fair, Cookoff/Wine/Beer/Cider Tasting, Grape Stomp and Fishing Contest.

The Salmon Run to eRace Stigma will continue! This 5k/10k with a 1-mile Family Fun Run/Walk is a fundraiser for the Momentum Center for Social Engagement and will be held as a virtual run/walk between the dates of Sept. 7-19, 2020. Click here for more information.

All other Salmon Festival events require an extensive amount of planning with city, county and state officials for proper permits and approvals. Unfortunately, the high level of uncertainty about what the next few months will bring regarding restrictions on public gatherings, concerns about public health and the ability to thoughtfully plan for a community event have led us to this decision.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us in the past through attendance, participation, sponsorship, and volunteering. We look forward to resuming our 17th Annual Grand Haven Festival on September 17 & 18, 2021.

The Downtown Grand Haven waterfront will be bubbling with family friendly activities as D&W Fresh Market presents and Grand Haven Area Convention and Visitors Bureau hosts the Grand Haven Salmon Festival —a multi-faceted festival that pays tribute to the area’s bountiful waterways as a natural resource, while coinciding with the region’s annual Salmon migration.

NAT_4071The 17th Annual Grand Haven Salmon Festival, a two-day festival, is slated for September 18 & 19, 2020 in downtown, Grand Haven. The event was designed to mark the passing of summer, promote the area as a unique fall tourist destination and celebrate the fall harvest season and salmon migration. The festival theme is arts, education, and entertainment and assures the residents and visitors alike a unique opportunity to learn about the region’s natural assets, while experiencing the cultural appeal of the area through music, art, entertainment, history and education.

The outdoor-waterfront festival features live jazz music; Michigan wine tasting pavilion (ID required for wine/beer tasting) featuring Michigan’s top wineries and grape stomping; gourmet salmon cook-off contest; Michigan craft tasting pavilion; downtown merchant market; fine art fair and green market on the waterfront; fishing contest with weigh-in/awards ceremony; mouth-watering food and beverage treats at the Fish Boil;  hands-on children’s nature-themed arts & crafts activities; and educational, environment-focused exhibits, displays, workshops—and more!
